Jalen Hurts Explains Why He Didn’t Wear His Super Bowl Ring
The Philadelphia Eagles Unveil Custom Super Bowl Rings
On Friday night, the Philadelphia Eagles received their Super Bowl LIX Championship Rings at a private party held at Ballers at the Battery in Philadelphia. The big headline? Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback and Super Bowl LIX MVP, who threw 17/22 for 221 yards, with two touchdowns, in a 40-22 win over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, Jalen Hurts, has drawn attention for choosing not to wear his Super Bowl LIX championship ring.

So what’s the big deal? What’s so special about this ring? To start, the Philadelphia Eagles’ custom Super Bowl LIX ring is a 12-carat white gold piece worth over $50,000, packed with numerous symbols. It features 145 diamonds on the bezel to represent the team’s record-setting 145 postseason points, the most of all time, along with 40 additional diamonds for the 40 points scored in the Super Bowl victory. A unique pop-out wing design reveals a quote from head coach Nick Sirianni: “You can’t be great without the greatness of others.” Behind the Philadelphia Eagles logo are two diamond-filled Lombardi Trophies, representing the two Super Bowls they’ve won. The five diamonds on the button symbolize the five players who scored in the game. Around the top are 18 green stones, marking the team’s 18 total wins that season. Each ring is personalized with the player’s name, jersey number, and an engraving of Lincoln Financial Field. Inside the ring, the engravings include the Brazilian flag, which honors their unique season opener in São Paulo, the team’s playoff scores, and Sirianni’s core values: “TOUGH, DETAILED, TOGETHER.”
So why didn’t Jalen Hurts want to wear this masterpiece of a ring? Hurts quickly explained his decision by stating, “I’ve moved on to the new year. It’s as simple as that.” Showing that his mindset already has this Super Bowl in the past, and he’s focused on getting the next one. This is a good thing for Philadelphia Eagles fans, as it shows that they aren’t just satisfied with winning the Super Bowl; they’re hungry for another one.

Eyes on the Repeat
With the Philadelphia Eagles ranked 3rd in odds to win the Super Bowl next season at +750, behind Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens at +650 and Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills at +700, they have their work cut out for them. As many teams around them were adding players to improve their rosters, the Philadelphia Eagles are focusing on enhancing chemistry and improving play from their young players.

Going back-to-back in the Super Bowl is one of the most challenging feats in all of sports. With teams already having a target on your back for being the defending champions, you will get their A game every time. Although the Kansas City Chiefs won back-to-back Super Bowls recently, in 2023 and 2024, it’s not an easy accomplishment. The time before that was 20 years ago, when the New England Patriots won it in 2003 and 2004. We will have to wait and see how committed Jalen Hurts is to next season and what the season holds for the Philadelphia Eagles, as their work is going to be cut out for them.
